bloodymage's events 17 Nov 2011 08:19 #1895

I've submitted four events. If you play in one at GaryCon, it'll be the same for NTRPGCon. I much prefer running home characters to pregens and there's a 5th-7th level AD&D adventure and a 4th-6th C&C adventure. For my A&8s scenario, we can use characters from Rustlers & Townsfolk if you don't bring one and the LtH session is designed to create a HackMaster character to take home.

If you would, forward me the details on your events so I can add them to the schedule.

I sent the details to Badmike. This is the e-mail:

Howdy Mike,

This is what I have. Put 'em all in LTH4 if there's room. The smaller the crowd, better for my hearing.

The Golden Four 1800-2400 Thursday

A story is told of a group of stalwart adventurers, bosom buddies who were so successful, that they formed an agency and contracted out their "work" while they took their ease and enjoyed the fruits of their good fortune. Their names are lost as would their story be if it were not for Raleef the Balladeer. And there would be no object purpose to the story if Caleb Fowler, an antiquities merchant, had not listened to Raleef's whimsical accounting and done some digging. He discovered that the group did exist and operated outside of Verbobanc. More investigation revealed that the group consisted of a warrior, a wizard, a cleric and a thief and they built a compound in which to take their repose and conduct business. Moreover, by piecing together records in Verbobanc, he was able to pinpoint the location of this compound in the Gnarley Forest using landmarks. Assuming the landmarks are still there, it should be comparatively easy for a party of treasure-seekers to locate and loot the compound. Caleb has contacted your group with a proposal. Locate the compound, plumb its mysteries, relieve of its wealth and return. Caleb will finance the expedition and all he asks in return is that any historical documents or items be retrieved for him. He also asks that all your property not required for the expedition, including money, be given to him to hold as surety against his investment. All will be returned to any survivors upon completion of the bargain.

An AD&D adventure for levels 5-7, 8 players max

Wool Be Gone 1400-1800 Friday

Three carts of wool in the last month bound for Frandor's Keep from Sabden, have turned up missing! Searchers have gone out and discovered three empty carts, no sign of people and no signs of blood or a struggle. "I can see no need the Ravens might have of raw wool. Besides, if it were them, there would likely be bodies left. The carts are in the Keep now if you care to inspect them." All were found between Kar Mandri and Kar Vesbul and you are offered 50 silver pieces to find out why the wool is disappearing and to put a stop to it. You are given an advance of 15 silver pieces and a promise for the remainder upon proof of your completion of the task.

A Learn To Hack session, where we'll create HackMaster characters and run through a short scenario and the characters you get to keep to run in your next session of HackMaster. No player max

William's Caravan of Woe 1200-1800 Saturday

This is an adventure for six to eight 4th -6th level Castles & Crusades characters. Wagons have pulled into Allis bereft of goods, damaged and drivers and escorts frothing at the mouth and speaking gibberish! The merchant class is in an uproar, insisting the nobles have failed their duties by not protecting the caravan! This was an important train bearing goods some of which were destined for King William and all has disappeared. You have been commissioned to recover as much as possible and to find what has caused the carters' delirium and destroy it if necessary. The constabulary of Allis has notified the king and through intermediaries, you have been sought out and brought to the king's chamber.

The Lost Shooting Star Mine 1000-1600 Sunday

This is an Aces & Eights scenario for somewhat experienced characters, though a couple or three greenhorns would be suitable as well. It takes place in The Cauldron of the Shattered Frontier and the mine is located in the San Juan Mountains. The adventure starts in Muskeegie where a search of old assay records has turned up evidence of the mine. An old codger has offered to sell the information and a map and it seems credible enough to warrant the risk in purchasing it.

8 players max

After I review the schedule, I'll add probably 2 of your games, you may need to advertise the other 2 as games at open gaming tables. We try not to schedule more than 2 games for most attendees since if you don't show, we have slots we can't fill with DMs.

So bring the stuff to run all 4 and you can run what we don't put on the schedule at any open table.

Re:bloodymage's events 19 Nov 2011 11:53 #1901

I don't really do very well in open gaming due to my hearing. Compared to my glory days, this is an extremely light schedule for me. I used to run virtually non-stop from con opening to con closing all in scheduled slots. And I'm more of a GM than a player. Traditionally, I always tried to get in at least one game, very occasionally, I'd catch two. And nothing but death will keep me away this time.

If you absolutely must schedule only two, I'd recommend Wool Be Gone and The Lost Shooting Star Mine.

Re:bloodymage's events 20 Nov 2011 05:53 #1902

We usually limit running games to two because of all the special guests we have willing to run games, we don't have to lean on the attendees to supply GMing skills. Remember, we have Frank Mentzer, Tim Kask, Paul Jaquays, Sandy Peterson, Steve Winter, Rob Kuntz, Jeff Dee, and Jim Ward with two slots each, Dennis Sustare with at least one slot, that's 18 slots we already have filled before we even have to start looking. Not even counting guys like Grodog, TacoJon, Mike Kelly, Matt Finch, Bill Webb, Bill Barsh, etc who always run multiple slots each con. It's an absolute embarrassment of riches for us every year, and we would rather someone attend and play than have multiple slots. So just worry about hanging out, meeting other gamers and the legends of our hobby, sitting in on games and panels/seminars, and if you want to you can always run unscheduled games if you find a few people willing to join you at one of the open gaming tables.
