Every year, someone tells us "I'm bringing my wife and kids, and they don't want to hang at the con. What is there to do nearby if they don't want to game?"

There is a LOT to do for families, but first things first, our rapid transit system sucks. You are going to have to rent a car, but once you have transportation, there are a lot of possibilities. DFW airport and the Marriott rests smack dab in the center between Dallas and Fort Worth, giving you equal access to both cities.

Here is a selective list of family-type things to do in the area:

Six Flags Over Texas
Largest amusement park in Texas, it's very close (within 10 minutes) to the hotel

Hurricane Harbor:
Water park across the street from Six Flags

Texas Rangers Ballpark in Arlington:
This year, the Rangers have home games Friday the 3rd through Sunday the 5th (vs the Mariners), and play the Dis-Astros the next week at home.

AT&T Stadium/Dallas Cowboys:
In the offseason, you can still visit and tour or go to the Dallas Cowboys museum.

Grapevine Mills Mall is about 15 min away, north of the airport. It is very kid friendly with a Rainforest Cafe, a Lunar Mini-Golf, and a Legoland:
