As everyone knows by now, the convention is moving in 2017 to the Westin north of the airport. Unlike the Marriott, there is ONE place to eat within walking distance (a Dennys across the street), not the multiple options available at the old locale. Besides the hotel restaurant, that is it without transportation. However, there are two other options:

#1 The city of Grapevine has a shuttle that comes by the hotel at 15 after every hour (3pm to 11pm Mon-Thurs, 12pm-11pm Friday, and 10am-11pm Saturday) in front of the hotel that takes visitors (at $5 a person) to downtown Grapevine, where there are several restaurants including Tolbetts, Wilhoites and Cotton Patch Cafe (a full list will appear here later). This is a good option if you have an hour or more to kill and want a nice sit down regional restaurant. It runs every hour on the hour so it gives you an hour to eat and then catch the shuttle back, about 2 hours in all.

#2 About five minutes away by car is a shopping center along Beltline (reached by Royal lane/Regent lane) with several fast food restaurants, including a Quiznos, McDonalds, McAlisters Deli, Burrito Jimmys, Cavalli Pizza, Burgdawgs, Planet Sub, Chipotle, Verts Mediterranean Grill, Dragon Express, Subway, Saladworks, Salas Mexican Grill, Indian Cafe, Gyro Oasis, Koriyaki Asian Grill, Starbucks, Jimmy Johns, Olympian Donuts, Vito's Pizza, Local Diner). It is a 20-25 min walk (about 1.5 miles away) or a short 5 min drive.

I have not found out if any of the places listed deliver to the Westin, but I will find out in the next couple of months (and also get a better list of what is available).

We have also discussed the possibility of having food trucks in the parking lot, which is allowed by the hotel, but we have to do a bit more resarch on this (cost, times, etc).

If you plan to leave the hotel on the bus to eat somewhere, give yourself about 3 hours total to be gone from the table. Since the bus only comes at :15 on the hour, the shortest time you can be gone is 1 hour if you DON'T get off the bus. 2 hours if you can get off the bus and eat and back to the bus in 1 hour.... (very unlikely). So the most likely process will be getting off the bus, getting in the restaurant, being seated, ordering, getting the food, eating and paying and back to the bus stop in a hourish ... so the earliest you can get back would be 3 total hours from the original bus leaving the hotel.

There is no scenario where you can get back in 1.5 hours and have eaten (short of running across town to catch a bus at some other stop from where you got off to eat)

Thus eating away from the hotel will be a 2-3 hour "break" in your day.

Also the Shuttle is $5.00 per DAY, it's a day pass so you can ride it for lunch and dinner if you like on the same day... $10.00 for a family pass so 3 or more can be cheaper...

We may have a single food truck, I doubt we'll be able to get more than one to attend if at all. We'll let you know once we spoken to a few.

More choices around the intersection of MacArthur and 635. I prefer this rather than Beltline and 635.

It has better options, but its farther away and you have to deal with more traffic. The area at Beltline and Regent is only 5 min away with plenty of options.

I threw the hotel address into Grub Hub and it looks like there are a few places that deliver via that service. Pizza, Indian, Chinese, etc. It's an option.

Any recommended local cab companies? Also, any grocery stores nearby?
