If this holds, the kids charity is about to make a shitload of money from the House of Badmike.....I may put one out on everyone! If I have to be a driver to participate, I'll sponsor someone who will agree to enter a race with Doug and Zach in it....the $20 bills will rain down like whipstrokes on a slow team of horses....

You do not have to be remotely involved in the race to throw down some green. Bounty 'cash' is forfeit whether someone comes through or not, but sesterces by racers or other Owners is carried over from race to race and Con to Con until the Driver dies or cart is destroyed.

After getting together with Doug this weekend for a "friendly" Chariot race with Doug, Mike, Zach Glazar, James Johnson and myself -- which ended in a bloody mess of at least 6 dead horses, 1 dead driver and 1 crashed cart -- I have agreed to let finishers in the Factional Qualifiers earn XP at a lower rate. This will not affect anyone from last year because only 4 finished the Final and there were no lower placed finishers in the Qualifiers that lived.

The new XP allocation for non-qualifying finishers in the Qualifiers:

4th/4XP/50% of earned XP 5th/3XP/40% 6th/2XP/30% 7th/1XP/20% 8th/0XP/10%

All the percentages are rounded up and the Drivers will earn no XP for left over Endurance and no monetary award. This will give non-qualifying finishers something to take into another qualifier and to build on in the hopes of qualifying for the Finals, but not giving them too much since they did not actually qualify. These totals will accumulate in any qualifier during the Con until the Driver qualifies, but can be carried over to the next year if he never does qualify at this Con.

Also this year, XP can be "cashed in" for sesterces (money) to help drivers fix Wheels or heal Horses or Drivers for their next race. The exchange rate is 1XP = 25s (Driver XP ONLY!)

If a Chariot is lost, you can buy a new one: LT/500s MED/1000s HVY/1500s
If a Horse is killed, I have a chart to purchase another one.
If a Driver is killed, you are out of luck and must start from scratch with a newly rolled Team.

Three small rules changes for this year:
1. Runaway Teams will exit at the end of the lap they are on when Driver is lost.
2. A penalty of -1 to CDM when reloading a crossbow and attempting to evade/brake from an attack.
3. A Driver on the track is not automatically killed when run down. Since Drivers are the main part of a player's Chariot Team, I have made it possible for them to survive a run over. They will take 2D6 damage instead of instant death. 1XP/PT of damage will be awarded to the attacker with a 5XP bonus to the final killing blow. There will be a 1 Movement Factor penalty for the attacker for EACH point inflicted on the track bound Driver. So if you have a Driver with 10 Driver Hits (or Armored) he may be able to survive a trampling attempt and escape to the stands to ride another day.

REMEMBER: Wednesday night's Red Faction Qualifier has 6 racers already signed up and some big names will be in attendance. Charlie Hartensteiner (2011 Champ, 1 runner up), Jimmy Simpson (2012 Champ, 2 runner up) along with the Rhea family (Doug and David) and 2 newbies (2 spots still left!). Should be messy.
Early Thursday afternoon (1-4pm/White Faction) only has 1 racer (2015 Runner Up Gary Oliver) as does the Thursday evening race with 2013 Champ Zach Glazar (6-9pm/Green Faction).
Three youngsters from last year led by 2015 3rd Place finisher Thomas Loose and 1 newbie are scheduled for the Friday morning (8-11am/Blue Faction) Qualifier, the last chance to qualify for the Saturday morning Finals(4 open spots). The Factional Qualifiers will go up against Grimlon (Ben Barsh/Black Faction) as the returning Champ in the Finals.

Walk ups are allowed and will be taken first come first served for any race with an open spot. Don't wait until the last minute. Sign up now to guarantee your spot in the most exciting 3 laps in racing history!

For people that are following this topic and are super confused by it, there is no need to be. You do not need to know any of this, it is all explained at the Con and most of it will just 'happen' with or without your knowledge of it. Circus Maximus is an easy game to learn and after two movement turns you will have it down. Easy. These things are for the more hard core players, not something a newbie would need to worry about.
