This is my first time to NTRPGC. I am sorry this seems like a silly question, but how do players sign up for games? Do we just show up?
Also what other things do I need to know or do before the con?

Highly recommend to pre-register for events. Seating will be limited at con.

Welcome! You are in for a treat, I think. NTRPG Con 2010 was my first convention ever. Met some great people, played some great games.

On April 15 at midnight central time, you can register for games online, here on this website. Online registration stays open for a while, but many high-demand games fill up in the first few minutes from 1200-1215 or so. I think you can also register on site in person when you arrive, but I've never done it or known anyone who has. I think it's mostly for walk-ups who pick over what's left. Most people do it online to ensure the best chance of getting what they want, though there can sometimes be seats open in good games on game day.

What did you have in mind here?

This year I plan to arrive Weds night, take a free shuttle from DFW airport to the hotel, sleep Thurs morning, eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which is pretty good, and socialize a little bit - catch up with people, take some pictures, maybe look for a pick-up game. I'll play in scheduled games Thurs night, Friday and Saturday, then head back to the airport Sunday (free shuttle). I'll drink lots of beer (hotel bar and organizers bar) and also probably eat at least one meal off campus. There are several places within walking distance, nothing too fancy. I'll also probably drop a few bucks with the vendors along the way.
